Team Umber enjoyed a European outing recently, when we attended a prestigious trade fair in Germany. Our client, food packaging manufacturer Krehalon, invited us to visit them at IFFA 2019, the world’s premier meat industry trade event held in Frankfurt.
And of course, we jumped at the chance!
For the past few months, we’ve been working on Krehalon’s exhibition stand graphics and event literature, as well as an animated video designed to highlight their commitment to sustainability. This was the first time Krehalon had incorporated moving graphics into their exhibition design, so attending IFFA was a great opportunity to see the impact this had first hand.
We’re really proud to work with Krehalon, because they’re making huge innovations when it comes to sustainability in the food packaging industry. They’ve not only developed products that contain less plastic and are 100% recyclable, but they’re also committed to improving their circular economy solutions, too.
We’re staunch supporters of their mission, so were excited to be tasked with presenting these messages in a motion graphic for the event. Our Senior Designer, Chris, worked with Krehalon’s European Marketing Manager, Petya, to decide on the content the video should include and how to present it creatively.
Krehalon wanted the video to educate visitors to their stand about the efforts they’re taking to be more sustainable, highlight their involvement with The Plastics Pact and also promote their more environmentally friendly product lines - Mono APET and SSL+ (which we also helped to brand).
Chris designed a branded, moving infographic to communicate these key messages, and prompt audiences to interact with the other side of the stand panel where the content continued. Chris also helped to source a screen for the stand that would display the video in portrait (which is more complicated than you may first imagine!).
Chris said: “It was great to see Krehalon at IFFA and finally see the end result of months of hard work! We had the opportunity to meet members of the European Krehalon team and gain their feedback on our designs. They loved the video, and are keen to do more in the future. It was also good to immerse ourselves in what the industry is doing as a whole. We came away inspired and with some new ideas for future exhibitions.”
It’s difficult to find an agency that’s willing to invest the time and effort to understand the technicalities and complexities of our industry and products. Umber are so attuned to our way of thinking now that we wouldn’t even need a ‘brief’ for every project, they just know what we’re looking for.
Petya Todorova, Krehalon’s European Marketing Manager, said: “We received tremendous support from Umber for our exhibition stand at IFFA 2019. We had exciting product launches to deliver and also wanted to view our existing product offering through fresh, creative eyes.
“Nothing was too much trouble for Umber and the guys have been absolutely fantastic in helping us achieve a lot in a short space of time. We received so many compliments on our stand graphics and certainly succeeded in making an impact.

“This is why we don’t see working with Umber as a ‘design outsourcing’ exercise. They’ve become a true extension of the Krehalon marketing team and are a delight to work with!”
Aww Petya, you’re making us blush!
