The Time2Volunteer Awards 2025, held at the DoubleTree by Hilton, proudly honoured outstanding volunteers from across the region, celebrating dedication, compassion, and community impact.
Across eleven award categories, the event also shone a well-deserved spotlight on Rosie Bullard of Hornsea First Aid Centre, who received the Special Recognition Award for her exceptional commitment and inspiring service spanning over five decades.
We were proud to sponsor the 'Behind the Scenes' Award for the third year running as it reflects so much of what we do daily. When any creative solution is built well, it looks easy, and our work often goes unnoticed - but when someone appreciates the effort, it fuels our passion and keeps us striving for more. These volunteers work quietly in the background but keep groups and charities going. They don’t make a song and dance about their volunteering.
Winning the award this year was Trish Dobbs. Trish is the driving force behind the Right Minds dementia peer support group in Bridlington, working quietly but powerfully behind the scenes to build a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for people living with dementia and their care partners. As a volunteer host, Trish dedicates over 10 hours each week to planning meetings, organising outings, fundraising, and raising awareness of the group's work. Her passion stems from lived experience—after losing her husband Roy, who had dementia, she chose to remain an active volunteer, sharing her energy, empathy, and personal insight to help others navigate the same journey.
Other worthy nominees included Nancy Brown - State of the Arts and Pickering and Ferens, Suzella Bone - North Hull Community, and Kev Sytkes - CHCP Volunteer Hub. Their contributions to society and our region are all worthy of celebration and they have our sincerest thanks for all they do.
We were extremely proud to present Trish with her ‘Behind the Scenes’ award on the night, and would like to take this opportunity to say a huge well done to all volunteers nominated for an award this year, the work you do in the community is priceless!
Congratulations to Trish and the other nominees. Our involvement with the Time2Volunteer awards runs deeper than just sponsoring awards, as directors we are actively involved with volunteering within our own communities and personal projects. The volunteers across all categories are amazing individuals and deserve recognition and their afternoon celebrating with their friends and families, they are truly inspirational.
